“ One of my favorite chairs is the MR Rattan chair by Mies Van Der Rohe. It’s been stripped away of ornaments and shows purity of form and function. His methodology inspired me to create paired down images of the Los Angeles neighborhood I live in. Using the bokeh method, I worked to distill and reduce the forms to a state of absolute simplicity. In the night, these light orbs are sublimated and become a language of their own.” - Renee Torres
